Homemade woolpicker
I made this with my good friend Lammert M.
Well, to be fair, he actually did most of the work :)
Well, to be fair, he actually did most of the work :)
And a lovely job he did too.
Thank you so much Lammert!!!
Dyed roving, done with acid dye from a local firm
This was the first time I tried acid dye.
Up untill now I have always used plants and mordants but I don't
want to mess with H2SO4 to do the indigo blue.
Not too friendly for the environment and when I did dye that way in my younger years I burned my hands on the stuff.
Did not like that much :(
This was very simple.
Make a dye/water/vinegar solution and " knot" the roofing a little, stick it in a pan and boil it for a while.
Et Voila
new woolies :)
These lovely little fellows came fresh from, first dye pot then drum carder, spinning wheel and wool winder.
I think they are pretty nice :)
